EXPLORE MASON HOUSING OPTIONS

After submitting your housing application, you have the option to apply for a Residential Learning Community (RLC). RLCs provide our residential students with unique living environments that help students engage with others of similar interests. These themed communities are staffed by faculty members who have experience in that field. The priority deadline date to apply for housing is May 1, and students will be notified by the middle of May of their acceptance into an RLC or Residential Learning Program.

Who is Eligible for Housing?

In order to live on campus students must be taking a full-time undergraduate course at George Mason University.

Complete your housing application via the housing application portal . For returning students, your application must be completed no later than February 1, 2025  Even if you are not 100% certain that you would like to live on campus, it is recommended to fill out an application. A Residential Learning Community (RLC) is a group of students intentionally living together on campus who have a shared interest in an academic, identity, or interest theme. Room Assignments

First-Year students will be assigned to housing based on your selected Residential Learning Community (if you choose one), or based on the gender identity selection you have made. Returning students will have the opportunity to choose their own space. There is no guarantee that you will get your first choice, so apply early. After all housing applications are submitted and approved, you'll have the opportunity to identify your group size and members starting February 26, 2025.

Room Selection

We encourage our applicants to go into the selection process with one or more buddies as this improves the likelihood of living with friends/compatible suite-mates.

Select Your Living Space: For returning students only, group leaders will choose the space and selection will take place March 1-3.

Roommate Grouping

Groups can be composed of up to six people. You can also go through this process as an individual. Certain types of spaces, such as large apartments and single rooms, are not widely available. Keep your budget in mind, and remember to factor in pricing, location, meal plan requirements, and access to halls over winter break.

View your Residence Hall & Room!

Beginning in early July, first-year students who apply before May 1 , you will be able to view your housing assignment and room through the Housing Portal. This is where you also go through the roommate grouping process and gender-inclusive housing if you require it.
