Outdoor Adventure:  Participate in a wide variety of outdoor activities (ex: hiking, camping, rock climbing, kayaking, and more!) Prior experience is not necessary and you can plan your own adventure!

Environment and Sustainability: Help green the Mason campus, practice sustainability in your daily life, develop your leadership skills, and have fun in the process!

At the SCBI campus in Front Royal, VA:

Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation: Study conservation biology within an intensive, experiential, transdisciplinary context.  Like study abroad, this is a “semester away” program located at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, VA.

  • Course Requirements: 1 of the two 16-credit semester programs (Applied Conservation Strategies or Ecology for Effective Conservation Practices)
